We all know that our employees are our most important asset, they do the work that keeps the business moving forward, and without them there is only one outcome.
I attended a workshop this week which supplied some interesting statistics about employee retention and loyalty, which reminded me about the benefits of treating your staff well and creating a community environment.
Happy staff work hard for you, prepared to go the extra mile at the drop of a hat, its not always about pay, make them feel wanted and it pays dividends. But how do we do it?
It doesn't have to be a big gesture, just recognition. A card for the birthday, a personal thank you, a bar of chocolate, a pint, an extra hour off, some flowers, it really is the little things that count.
I supply a package of equipment and training to businesses that want to do that little extra. They don't have to put it in place, but when I go in and train their staff in some of the life skills that can really make a difference to one of their friends or family, they always say how impressed they were that their employers went to the trouble of getting it organised.
Its creates a family.
There are plenty of successful companies who treat their staff badly, but long term how will they fair? Would you like to have fun at work with others who respect and care about you, or end up rich and alone?
